Can’t… breathe… stupid… stairs…

So, I got back from a lunch today and randomly thought -- I should take the stairs. It’s only 5 flights, I could use the exercise… plus it can't kill me.

Ya… almost did.

Apparently, I’m a tad bit out of shape. Around the third flight, I was seriously regretting my decision. Around the fourth, my legs started to shake and some older lady coming down (probably from the 10th floor) asked me if I was ok. Once I made it to the fifth, I was breathing heavy and had broken a sweat.

After nearly collapsing before I made it all the way down the hall to my desk, I decided that it might be time to start working out. And not just to say that I’m gonna work out, but to actually do it. The hard part is, to be completely honest, I’m REALLY lazy. Not just a little lazy. REALLY lazy. Plus, there’s always an episode of Grey’s to catch up on or an episode of Coupling (watch it, it rules!) from Blockbuster.com to watch. But, when I can’t even make it up a couple of flights of stair it’s obviously time to do something.

I think I should start slow though, I don't want to hurt myself. So, for now, my plan is -- no more elevator. It's only 5 flights of stairs...up here...then 5 down to lunch...then 5 back up... then another 5 to go home... wow, I'm tired just thinking about it. But, I can do it. I really can. Just, if I'm not anwering calls or emails around, 9, noon, 1 or 5, will someone please come and look for me in the stairwell??

Day one update -
Going downstairs is a LOT easier than up. Shockingly, I'm still alive... for now.
