What is the matter with me?

Posted by: Amanda

I posted this under the How To Category -- but this is more technically a post on how NOT to keep a surprise.

Step 1: Wrap your husbands Valentines presents at work, thus prompting the nosyest coworker to pounce on over and start his battering of nosy and annoying questions. "Wrapping presents for Valentines day?" (no shit- Sherlock) "What is that?" "Whose it for?" "What else did you get him?" "Is that cologne? It looks like cologne."

Step 2: Get so annoyed that you retort - "It's not cologne, it's FILM ok FILM. HAPPY!?!?!" In an obviously annoyed tone.

Step 3: Tell this story to said husband at lunch. ALL of the story... even the part where you RUIN the surprise and therefore turn into the moron.

HAPPY ANNOYING NOSY COWORKER??? HAPPY?!?!?!?!

Oh how I miss the Collin Creek Mall

Posted by: Amanda

So... we went to the Collin Creek Mall last night and I just really love it there. It's not the best mall in the DFW area, by far, but it was the first mall I shopped at after moving to TX; and therefore fell in love with it. The sad little mall in Farmington was the ONLY place for the cool kids to hang out... and by cool kids I totally mean the lame kids who were not Four-Wheeling and doing drugs in the hills. It was half the size of the Collin Creek Mall and only about 70% of the stores were open. Those stores were mostly stores like Dillards, Sears, some toy store, Payless, and a Lane Bryant. Plus it was ALWAYS under construction because they were trying to make the big fountain in the middle work, until they finally gave up and filled it in with cement. So, obviously, in comparison the Collin Creek Mall was like THEBESTMALLEVER!!! And I was enamored by it for a while...

I missed you Blogginglandchestershire

Posted by: Amanda

I have not been writing at all recently, and I just realized that I'm totally jonesing. I know I'm no "insert ANY writer here", and there are only about 5 people who "might" even read this... but I miss it. It's just that lately I've been so freakin busy, I kinda forgot all about writing. Now that things have calmed down (some) I'm rejoining blog-land. And I would LOVE it if my friends would start blogging again too, I miss their writing... But since I can't technically force them, I'm just going to force myself.

I'm also thinking of trying something I'll call (and I just made this up), quantity vrs quality. Yup, not the other, more traditional (and therefore reasonable) way to do things, but I'm going to do my best to blog a lot. And instead of worrying about how "good" I am (cause then I shouldn't write at all), I'm just going to write as much as I can.

This idea is thanks to my new hubby... because he's HILARIOUS. A while ago, I suggested that his hilarity is thanks to the quantity of jokes he's willing to tell. And while most of his jokes are very funny... some are not. But some are actually HILARIOUS!! My suggestion is (and this is totally still up for debate) that most think of Tony as hilarious, vrs. just funny, because of the math. Since he tells a large number of jokes, he has more of a chance to get a hilarious one in. Funny ones are well received, and even his recovery from a not so funny joke ends up being funny. But because he tells so many, he gets in tons of hilarious ones. Make any sense??

Anyway.... hopefully I can do something similar with writing. I'll write a lot (and who knows, maybe someday even take a writing class or something crazy like that) and then by the sheer quantity something is bound to be good every once in a while... possibly...maybe... right?

Goodbye Yahoo Photos

Posted by: Amanda

I'm really bummed about Yahoo Photos closing. My pictures have been accumulating on there for a few years now and it's been perfect. But, they were threatening to delete my pics if I didn't move them, so now they're on Flickr. Which is a pretty good photo hosting website, if they didn't charge you to keep ALL your pictures on there. Oh well. New link in the sidebar.

Nightmare at the Passport Agency

Posted by: Amanda

A recap of our AMAZING vacation to Italy last month wouldn’t be complete without a recap of the horror that was trying to get our (Tony and my) passports for the trip. Let this serve as a warning to all!

You need more than 2 months to get your passport. A LOT more. The standard used to be 6 - 8 weeks. Fill out your paperwork, give them all the proper documentation – less then 2 months later, you get your passport in the mail and everyone’s happy. However with the new passport laws passed last December, anyone traveling to Mexico or Canada by air now needs a passport. Therefore, practically everyone going on vacation this summer is scrambling to get his or her passports last minute. And apparently EVERYONE in the US is trying to get out. Passports are taking up to 14 weeks, if you’re lucky. The post office is now telling people that the expedited passports are taking 7 – 10 weeks!!

If only Tony and I would have known this in February.

Wedding Photos

Posted by: Amanda

There are SO many photos from the wedding... my poor friends allegedly had to suffer though albums and albums on my yahoo picture account.

Since I would have glanced and the 300+ pictures and said "hell no, I'm not looking at no 300+ pictures of people I don't know" I decided to pick my favorite and post them here. Click on the photo section and go to the Wedding Weekend album. The pictures take just a second to load. Please enjoy.
